Welcome to the Jungle! This year’s camp theme is ANIMAL KINGDOM. Animals from all over the world have gathered at our campground at Ziontario! The Lion and King of the Jungle himself has offered up his crown and title to anyone worthy enough to claim it. The PARK RANGERS (YAY Events Team) and highly trained ANIMAL HANDLERS (YAY Staff & Counsellors) have come together to help all our campers pass the challenges and have the best weekend ever!
From Friday August 10th or Saturday August 11th – Monday August 13th, matches will gather and compete in friendly competition with each other for the crown. This year all campers will be placed into 4 animal groups – Jungle Cats, Wild Birds, Monkeys, and Reptiles. Mentees and Mentors will be aided through various challenges and games upon their arrival and will participate in activities such as swimming, canoeing, arts & crafts, sports activities and much more! Throughout the weekend all groups will participate in activities that will test their strengths and skills. The animal team who demonstrates the greatest amount of teamwork, sportsmanship, positivity and ultimately excels in certain activities will become the King or Queen of the Jungle and take their place on the throne.
All Matches will be sleeping in a dormitory or have the option to sleep in a tent at the camp site. For four days and three nights we will be on an adventure with transportation, meals and snacks, activities and accommodations all included.
For the past several years, The Peer Project – Youth Assisting Youth has offered this FREE camping experience to its matches. This is possible through generous donations from the “Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund”, as well as other supporting organizations.
